Clever Software Lets You Re-Use Your Old Touchscreen Devices As One Giant Display
By Andrew Liszewski
If you’re constantly upgrading to the latest and greatest devices by now you’ve probably got a small collection of unused smartphones and tablets waiting for a buyer on Craigslist. But don’t sell them just yet. Researchers at the Tokyo University of Technology have developed a brilliant piece of software called Pinch that can turn a hodge-podge collection of different devices into a single unified display.
It’s called Pinch because that’s how two adjacent devices are synced. It doesn’t matter how they’re aligned or if they differ in size, a user simply needs to pinch across the adjacent displays to link them up. And once connected, graphics or animations will treat multiple devices as a single display. So several handsets could be strung together to create one long virtual piano, and with enough devices you could finally assemble that big screen TV you’ve always wanted. [DigInfo TV]
